Upon my first visit, must say the place is much more convenient than going to one of the Indian Casinos. I was however disappointed at the chips for tournament play. 11.5 G with the plastic inserts are never any fun to handle. Other than that the tables were pretty nice, and I enjoyed myself.

Any chance the chips will get changed to some ceramics or clays?

The people for the most part were very respectful and I enjoyed the conversation.

All in all ill give the place a 7/10, deduction for the chip quality and cleanliness.

PostSubject: Chips   Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:35 pm

We have gone around and around about replacing the tournament chips, but have yet to find a solution that seems to appeal to everyone.

Clay chips, ceramic chips, composite chips, plastic inserts, metal inserts, custom labels, hot stamped, 11.5g, 13g, 14g... It seems our guests are just as widely spread on the debate as we have been!

We love input about improvements that can be made and if you have a thought on what chips you would like to see us use, please let us know. We will definitely be replacing them this year, so our guest's input is essential.

Thanks for supporting us and helping to make our business better for everyone!

After alot of reaserch for pricing I think your best bet would be a set of Nevada Jacks ceramics. They are the absolute best chip that you can get for your money. Chipco's and clays are very expensive. Nevada jacks by far is the best chip for the money (50-65 cents ea). Compare to chipco or clays its half the price.

You can read alot of about chips at chiptalk forums

You can also order samples as well.

Will you be doing a custom design?

PostSubject: Another First Time Review   Sat May 17, 2008 4:27 am

Real nice poker experience. Good solid play, players with respect for the game and a good environment. Nothing really negative to say except that the whole way the money math works out doesn't seem to be completely honest but definitely not a rip off. Keep up the good work PPC and I'll be back!

I spent a nice Monday evening playing at the PPC a few weeks back. Had a great time. The venue was nice, clean, and overall hospitality was very good. The tourney went very well for a Monday night, with some solid play seen.

One constructive critique I did have was the pay-out structure. For this tournament, there were approximately 45 players ($20 + $5 bonus). The payout was the top 9 people.

In my opinion, as well as many of the other players, the payout could have been restructured to payout the top 5-6 players. While this would have made the tournament a bit more top-heavy, it would have given you better return if you were to finish in the top 5-6. Giving the 6/7-9 spots there money back (give or take a few dollars) seems unneccessary when the 3rd place pays a little less than 5:1 in a tourney of almost 50 people. Maybe even posting the payout structure prior to the first deal would help answer a lot of questions moving through the tournament.
Something to perhaps consider in the future (as I see some others inquiring about it as well).

I do look forward to playing there again. Thanks!!

Incorrect. Nevada Jacks Desert Sands or the Skulls ceramic line can be purchased for 36c per.

In the next few days quality custom CLAYS for 30c each will be available. Because it is a limited run, the chip quality (and more importantly, security) for your club would be very high, at a rock bottom price.

Whether you know it or not, if you are still using 11.5g composites, then you are definitely turning off a large player base who insist on chip quality.

Reply here if you are interested in either.

PostSubject: 7/10 Cleanliness and Chips?   Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:06 am

I've always thought this was one of the cleanest places to play poker in the Portland area. Including the larger casinos. Definitely cleaner than casinos.
