Love your place; don’t like to play anywhere else. I know the poker community well. The word around town is that the payout structure isn’t right. People are thinking something is wrong with where all the money goes. Specifically The question is how much is the houses taking; let’s say on a $30 buy in, as it was it was $20 for the tournament, $5 for the house, and $5 for a bonus chip, which evidently goes to the house as well. On top of that there are the dealer fees and referral fees. So if there’s five referral fees paid that day the tournament payout is light $25 dollars plus the dealer fees. I’m not sure what you’re paying the dealers, but if their playing for free, this could all lead up to the payout being up to $100 dollars less than what people feel the real amount should be.

A clear written policy on this would clear up all misconceptions. I promote your place like it was mine, like I said I really enjoy playing there. Again, many local players are saying the place is ripping people off. That’s just what I hear. Letting you know!

Truthfully Yours,

To clarify any misconceptions, 100% of the tournament buy in goes into the prize pool. If it is a $20 buy-in, $20 goes to the pot. If it is a $100 buy-in, $100 goes into the pot. Prizes are clearly posted on the tournament screen after all entries have been made and the tournament gets under way (although, prizes 6-9 are often cut off of the bottom of the screen due to formatting issues). If there are any questions about the total value of the prize pool, guests are welcome to discuss their concerns with the tournament director or ask to view the full page prize payouts at any time during the tournament.

As for the dealers, all dealers are volunteers and those who play in the tournament pay for their own entry.

Portland Players Club works very hard to provide a fair, fun and relaxed atmosphere for all of our guests and we will promptly address any concerns that they may have. We genuinely appreciate your support of our club and hope that we continue to provide an enjoyable poker experience for you and all of the people you have referred to us!

$1 from every buy-in goes to the high hand promotion so the pool might look short?

PostSubject: i have faith this is legit   Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:43 pm

i have a feeling after what happened to Jim's place up on 140th and glisan a few years back that this place is gonna be legit. I used to be a regular up there and at Barts Warehouse underneath the highway on Glisan before Jim took us up the hill. I know at least a few guys from those games play at Biddy's (its where i heard about it). Im looking forward to getting back in a regular game now that im back in portland.

cheers

PostSubject: what is the "cover"   Fri Dec 12, 2008 7:10 am

I know people keep asking about rakes/payouts but i havnt seen a formal cover price from the admin. Is there a set seat charge at the tournaments? i am curious because i played in a Thursday night $20 tourny but was charged $30 to play while others were only charged $25. I was under the impression that it was a 5 dollar cover unless you were a monthly member, i am either wrong in that assumption or Will charged me an extra 5 for some other reason.

I enjoyed playing there, really nice people, nice facility, organized tourny, so im not complaining by any means, just curious

PostSubject: First Time Visitor/Concerns/Likes   Sun Dec 28, 2008 8:53 pm

Played for the first time last night. The place is clean, well maintained and very professional. Will seems to be an ok guy. I am a little concerned about a couple of the dealers, but other than that...it's ok. I also noticed a couple of guys who were friends, sending hand signals to each other and telling each other when they planned on raising. I did not want to say as it was my first time there and these guys were regulars. I think this needs to be addressed.
